Harry Kane has received approval from Tottenham to complete his proposed transfer to Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old striker is set to leave for Germany this morning, with medical tests and the signing of a four-year contract scheduled by Bayern to take place today.
Kane is expected to wear the No 9 shirt after agreeing on Thursday night to join the Bundesliga champions.
Earlier in the day, The Athletic reported that Tottenham had accepted an offer worth more than €100million (£86.4m, $110m) from Bayern.
The England captain wanted his future settled before the start of Tottenham’s Premier League season on Sunday, which sees them take on Brentford.
Kane had been leaning towards staying at his boyhood club, as he was enjoying life under new manager Ange Postecoglou. But ultimately the promise of a new challenge at Bayern proved too strong.
The striker was into the final 12 months of his contract and Tottenham wanted to tie him to fresh terms.
There has been no progress on that, however, which has led the club to make the hugely difficult decision to sell their talisman rather than lose him for free next summer.
