After accusing his son, then 14, of stealing a K200, the father of Kalulushi allegedly kills him and runs away.

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy from Kalulushi has reportedly died as a result of his father beating him with a slasher and his fists after accusing him of stealing a K200 from the home.

After his son Chizhika Chipema, who had a swelled skull from being beaten, died, Ernest Chipema, 50, escaped his house and is currently missing.

Since then, police have been looking for him.

According to Copperbelt Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba, the event happened yesterday, and the victim’s mother, Gertrude Nambela, reported it as a murder.

“Brief facts are that the father to the deceased lost K200 in the house and suspected the deceased of having stolen the said money. When he asked him, he refused hence he started beating him using a slasher and fists which made him sustain swollen head. He then rushed him to the hospital with his wife where he later died,” he said.

Mr Mweemba said the matter was later reported to the police who inspected the body and found him with swollen head.

“A docket has been opened and no arrest made as the suspect has run away. The body deposited at Kalulushi General Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem,” he said.
