Load Management Starts

Today will mark the start of load shedding for the nation.

A rotational load-shedding exercise will start, according to ZESCO National Spokesperson Henry Kapata, after the Kariba North Bank drastically reduced the amount of water used for electricity production.

According to him, the situation has made it necessary to reduce generation from the existing 1,080 megawatts to roughly 400 megawatts, which will damage the ability to satisfy demand.

Mr. KAPATA continues by saying that the planned downtime of a 150 megawatt generator at Maamba Collieries Limited’s power plant for yearly maintenance, which is slated to occur from January 4 through 20, has made the issue worse.

He claims that ZESCO will use print and electronic media to inform the people about the availability of electricity.
