23-year-old The mother of a five-month-old Kapiri-Mposhi baby strangles him to death for money.

A 23-year-old Kapiri-Mposhi lady is accused of killing her five-month-old infant because she loved money and didn’t know how to be a proper mother.

It is said that Regina Sakeni strangled her infant and then dumped it in the nearby bush on Mulungushi Road so that she might perform rituals to become wealthy.

According to David Chileshe, the commissioner of police for Central Province, who verified the tragic news to #Mwebantu, the incident happened between Thursday and Friday of last week.

“A 23 year old woman identified as Ms Regina Sakeni murdered her five months old baby identified as female infant Cecilia Chile by strangling her neck and later dumped the body in the bush along Mulungushi road. The suspect is in custody and upon being interrogated, she revealed that the reason for killing the baby was for rituals so that she could become rich. This happened at unknown time between January 18 and January 19 this year in Katondo compound. The body has not yet been found as the search was hampered by the thick night darkness,” he said.

He added that investigations into the matter continue while the suspect is still being held in police custody.
