Mykhailo Mudryk, a forward for Chelsea, has expressed regret for uttering a racial epithet in a July 2022 TikTok video.
In the now-deleted video, the 22-year-old, who cost the Blues £89 million in January, was singing a rap song.
According to a statement from the Ukrainian representative, “Mykhailo is truly sorry for any offense caused.”
Even if his only goal was to recite a song’s lyrics, Mykhailo regrets his action and acknowledges that it was inappropriate.
Kick It Out, an anti-discrimination organization, has stated that it “condemns the use of all racial insults regardless of context.”
The use of this word by prominent football figures can only turn fans away from the sport.
