The injectable anti-retroviral medication will be delivered to the nation in October of this year, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to Lloyd Mulenga, director of infectious diseases, pre-exposure prophylaxis, an injectable ARV is provided to those who are at high risk of contracting HIV.
Professor MULENGA said the scheduled arrival is a reaction to the presidential directive as well as the urgent need to improve prevention in remarks made following the conclusion of the Country Operational Co-Planning Meeting in South Africa.
In addition to serving as the National AIDS Council’s acting director general, Professor MULENGA predicted that there will be extensive drug sensitization between now and October.
