Only survivor in 27 bodies dumped in Ngwerere dies

An Ethiopian who was among the 27 people whose bodies were found dumped in Lusaka’s Ngwerere neighborhood alive has passed away.

In a statement, acting public relations representative for immigration Josephine Malambo acknowledged.

The deceased passed away on Friday, December 23 at 20:30 at the Maina Soko Military Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment, according to Mr. Malambo.

“On a very sad note, I wish to confirm the death of the only survivor in the incident where 27 bodies of Ethiopian Nationals were discovered dumped in Lusaka’s Ngwerere Area which occurred on 11th December, 2022. He died on Friday, 23rd December, 2022 at 20:30Hrs at Maina Soko Military Hospital where he was receiving treatment. We await post mortem to establish cause of death,” she said.

The agency, according to Ms. Malambo, had high hopes that the dead would live to assist with the inquiry.

However, she stated that while investigations are ongoing, the Department of Immigration and other law enforcement authorities are making significant headway in apprehending the criminals.
