A motorbike with the license plate ZP 3074 struck and killed a 30-YEAR-OLD woman from Lusaka yesterday as she crossed the street close to Selena Trust School in the Chalala neighborhood.
Mirriam Tembo was brought to the University Teaching Hospitals, where she was discovered to be dead, according to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale.
“Police recorded a fatal Road Traffic Accident in which a woman who was identified as Mirriam Tembo aged 30 of unknown house number in Garden Compound, Kanele area died after sustaining fatal injuries,” he said.
The rider of the motorcycle, named as Constable Mungala, 33, of the State House Police camp, survived the accident but sustained injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment, according to Mr. Mwale.
He declared, “The motorcycle is severely damaged.”
According to Mr. Mwale, the deceased’s remains was placed in the mortuary of University Teaching Hospitals in anticipation of the postmortem.
He stated that the incident has become the subject of a police investigation.
