Shakira Diss Track Sets New Viewing Records on Latin YouTube

Shakira set YouTube records with a song about her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique who cheated on her.

Out of Your League’s music video has received more than 63 million views in 24 hours, making it the most popular Latin song during that time.

After dating for more than ten years, Shakira, 45, and former Barcelona footballer Pique, 35, split up in 2022.

Additionally, the couple has two kids together.

Pique has been contacted by the BBC for comment.

In this four-minute pop tune, Shakira and Argentinian producer DJ Bizarrap collaborate for the first time.

Shakira joins a distinguished group of Latin artists, including J Balvin, Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee, who have broken YouTube records.

It’s not her first song on the split; Monotonia, which she released three months prior, focused more on heartbreak than on seeking retribution.

Shakira talks about Pique’s claimed new companion, age 23, in the diss tune.

She compares the relationship to trading “a Ferrari for a [Renault] Twingo” and a “Rolex for a Casio” in Spanish, claiming that she is “worth two 22-year-olds.”

The Colombian singer also makes mention of her dispute with Spanish authorities, who say she owes them €14.5 million (£12.8 million) in back taxes.

In the song, Shakira seems to be claiming that Pique abandoned her while all of this was happening, with her in-laws living next door.

She sings, “plenty of time at the gym, but your brain needs a little work too,” criticizing his exercise method.

However, Gerard Pique has been blogging about his newest seven-a-side endeavor, King’s League, although he hasn’t commented on the song online.

When they separated in June of last year, the couple said in a statement that they were concentrating on co-parenting their two children, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.
