Street vendors are instructed to return to the markets

The Local Government and Rural Development Minister GARY NKOMBO has ordered that by Monday, January 16, 2023, all street sellers must return to their assigned trade locations.

According to Mr. Nkombo, his ministry will take action in collaboration with local authorities to address the rise in COVID-19 cases and stop any potential Cholera outbreaks.

According to him, the government is aware that it is more expensive to cure cholera than to prevent it, which is why it is necessary to have policies in place to do so.

The minister claims that the ministry has determined that one of the factors causing the rise in diarrheal disorders is street selling.

According to VICTOR KAGOLI, the director of public health at the Lusaka City Council, the local government is now working with vendors to get them ready to leave the streets by Monday.
