20 cars and 19 motorcycles Impounded by police & RTSA in Nakonde

Over 20 vehicles were impounded by police and the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) in Nakonde during a six-hour operation for a variety of infractions.

19 motorcycles and 13 riders who have been charged with various charges were also impounded during the operation on February 2, 2023.

“A combined team of officers from the police  and RTSA in Nakonde district of Muchinga province yesterday conducted an operation to clamp down unregistered, uninsured and unlicensed motor vehicles and motorcycles, also apprehend unlicensed drivers and riders. A total number of nineteen motorcycles were impounded for various traffic offenses and thirteen riders were charged and arrested for various traffic offenses and all have been released on police bonds and will appear in court soon,”said Muchinga Province Commanding officer Kaunda Mubanga.

Mr Mubanga said of the 21 vehicles that were impounded,15 did not pay duty but later paid.

“Their cases have been legally processed in an appropriate time and have been released and handed over to the owners. Be informed that this operation will be a continuous exercise,” he said.
