7% Pay Rise For Fqm Trident Awards Employees

Employees in the Kalumbila district who are unionized have received a salary increase of 7% from First Quantum Minerals – FQM-Trident Limited.

The National Union of Miners and Allied Workers (NUMAW), the Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ), the Miners and Allied Workers Union (MAWU), and the United Mine Workers Union of Zambia (UMUZ) all signed the contract.

Additionally, NUMAW President SAUL SIMUJIKA, who spoke on behalf of the three unions, stated that given Trident Limited’s position as the nation’s top copper producer, the unions had higher expectations for their workers.

According to Mr. SIMUJIKA, unions are aware that the North-Western Province’s copper mines contain low grade copper that is extracted at a high cost.

Additionally, FREDERICK WOUTERS, Assistant General Manager of FQM Trident Limited, stated that management is aware of the numerous social and economic difficulties that the staff members confront.

BRIGHTON MWIINGA, the human resources manager at FQM Trident Limited, earlier stated that the mine would continue to benchmark against industry strengths to make sure it remains relevant when rewarding its personnel.
