In Western Province, an 80-year-old man was rendered helpless and in shock after 10 of his animals died instantly following lightning strikes.
Six oxen and four cows are thought to have perished in the lightning strike at the farm of Mr. Gleen Muyunda, a widower from Nalwashi village in the Sioma district.
Namabunga Mukubesa, the catastrophe victim’s nephew, told Mwebantu that his uncle had lost 10 animals at a goal when they were all struck by lightning, leaving him in a state of panic.
“My uncle Mr Muyunda on Saturday between 06:00 hours and 07:00 hours lost all 10 of his animals. They were six oxen and four cows which were struck by lightning and they all died on the spot. He is now in a state of shock, disarray, helpless and confused because he is a widower who is just alone,” he said.
Mr Mukubesha added that the matter had since been reported to Nangweshi police station .
