Pesticides totaling more than 10,000 liters have been delivered to Eastern Province to combat autumn army worms, which have infected all 15 districts in the area.

The black beetle, which affects soy bean and bean fields, has also had an impact on the province.

The damage is currently being evaluated by the ministry of agriculture.

Beauty Phiri, the deputy permanent secretary for the Eastern Province, claims that the administration is making every effort to keep the pests under control.

The infestation is not serious, according to acting Eastern Province agricultural coordinator Cabour Mung’omba.
