A man commits suicide because of a debt to his wife

In Chinsali, Muchinga province, a man is said to have poisoned himself to end his life because he owed his wife over 1,000 Kwacha.

After weeks of arguments with his wife over the debt, 40-year-old JAMES MUSHIBWE of Choshi Village was found dead in his bedroom yesterday.

The matter has been confirmed by the Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer, KAUNDA MUBANGA, who also stated that investigations have been started.

According to Mr. MUBANGA, detectives have found evidence that Mr. MUSHIBWE borrowed 1,000 Kwacha from his wife in February of this year to launch a company.

He has revealed that the deceased failed to repay the loan because after taking out the loan, he started drinking a lot of beer and misapplied the funds.

Mr. MUBANGA has noted that as a result, there was miscommunication between Mr. MUSHIBWE and his wife, who eventually stopped using the master bedroom for sleeping.

He has claimed that when police arrived on the spot, they discovered Mr. MUSHIBWE’s body wrapped in a blanket near to chemical tablets used to fumigate corn, which they believe he ingested.
