More hospitals in India have pledged to assisting Zambian physicians with performing kidney transplants locally.

As part of a skills transfer, Fortis Memorial Hospital in India has volunteered to deploy specialists to Zambia.

VIKAS DUA, Principal Director for Pediatric Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at Fortis Memorial Hospital, stated that his team is prepared to assist Zambia in beginning to provide such medical services locally.

When Zambia’s Health Chancellor to India VICTOR MUKONKA visited Zambian patients at the hospital, Dr. DUA was speaking during a conference.

According to Professor MUKONKA, the government’s skills strategy is to increase the number of doctors with practical experience in contemporary, high-tech medicine.

He claimed that until Zambia is able to stand on its own two feet, it will depend on organizations like Fortis for support.
