According to Spanish football analyst Guillem Balague, Rayo Vallecano has rejected Leeds United’s bid for manager Andoni Iraola.
The 40-year-old Iraola has led the Madrid team this season to sixth in La Liga, three points outside the Champions League spots.
Last season, he supervised two triumphs over Barcelona, and in November, they defeated Real Madrid, the reigning champions, 3-2.
Iraola wanted to talk to Leeds, which fired Jesse Marsch on Monday, but his club wouldn’t let him.
He was one of four potential replacements Leeds is contemplating for the American, who was fired following seven games in a row without a victory.
Michael Skubala, the coach of Manchester United’s under-21 team, oversaw Wednesday’s 2-2 Premier League tie at Old Trafford. Leeds had taken a startling two-goal lead before the visitors, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, leveled the score.
On Sunday at Elland Road, Leeds will play another league match against Manchester United.
Iraola stated his wish to work for the Premier League in 2021.
“Things have to go really well for me in order to do that. The top league in the world right now, so I’d have to have a very successful career, but I’d love to,” he remarked.
But I am aware that I have only just begun and that as a coach, I still have a lot to learn.
