Before Issuing Licenses For Exploration, Govt To Consult Chiefs
When granting exploration permits to investors, the government, according to mines minister PAUL KABUSWE, would engage with the Chiefs.
According to Mr. KABUSWE, the New Dawn Administration would always respect chiefs since they are essential to the advancement of the country.
And Mr. KABUSWE claims that the previous administration, not the New Dawn government, issued the mining exploration license over which Chief KABAMBA of the Serenje District has protested.
Nonetheless, he informed reporters that a mining exploration license covering three Chiefdoms is acceptable because it can potentially cover additional territory.
He claims that mining is distinct from exploration.
