Cast a Wide Net, Grant Advised

A local coach has asked Zambia’s new AFCON qualifying coach, AVRAM GRANT, to call in a wider variety of players for the games that will resume in March of this year.

According to NEBART PHIRI, GRANT will have a lot of options and the squad will have much-needed competition with a large pool from which to choose.

According to PHIRI, the nation has a large number of skilled athletes who should all be given an equal chance to compete for a spot on the national team rather than all being the same faces.

Grant is one of the top coaches in the world, according to PHIRI, the coach of River Plate Football Club, therefore having him lead the Chipolopolo is a win for the nation.

In an interview with ZNBC, PHIRI stated that the Israeli national needs assistance in order to lead the Chipolopolo to an AFCON qualifying after missing the previous three competitions.

In the back-to-back AFCON games in March, Zambia will play Lesotho.

To allow African nations to compete in the 2022 Qatar World, which Argentina won, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) postponed the 2023 AFCON until 2024.

The third and fourth group stage games were therefore moved, and they will now be contested from March 20–28, 2023.

The Fifth Group matches will take place between June 12 and June 20, 2023, and the final group stage matches will take place between September 4 and September 12, 2023.
