Chingola Aiming For City Status

The Chingola District Administration has announced that it wants Chingola to be declared a City before the year 2025.

Chingola Mayor JOHNSON KANG’OMBE says for now the council will concentrate on putting up infrastructure that will help the town to qualify to be declared a City.

Mr. KANGOMBE said this when he commissioned a market shelter and ablution block in Chingola’s Kasompe area.

And, Chingola Town Clerk NAMUKOLO KALUFYANYA said the Council will continue generating resources to implement projects in addition to those being worked on using the Local government equalisation fund.

Speaking at the same event, UPND Chingola District Chairman SCRIVENER BWALYA thanked President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for removing cadres from the markets.

Mr. BWALYA said this has allowed Councils like Chingola to collect more revenue for implementation of national projects.

According to the Chingola District Administration, the town should be incorporated as a city by 2025.

For the time being, according to Chingola Mayor JOHNSON KANG’OMBE, the council will focus on building the necessary infrastructure to assist the town meet the requirements to become a city.

When he opened a market shelter and restroom facility in the Kasompe neighborhood of Chingola, Mr. KANGOMBE made this statement.

Additionally, the Council will keep raising funds to carry out initiatives in addition to those being worked on utilizing the Local government equalization money, according to Chingola Town Clerk NAMUKOLO KALUFYANYA.

UPND Chingola District Chairman SCRIVENER BWALYA congratulated President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for clearing out cadres from the marketplaces in his remarks at the same ceremony.

According to Mr. BWALYA, this has made it possible for Councils like Chingola to raise more money for the execution of national projects.
