COP and prosecutor arrested for corruption in Kasama

For alleged corruption involving 7,700 Kwacha, a Kasama police officer has been detained.

LYSON CHIPETA, 27, and ALI GOMA, a prosecutor with the National Prosecution Authority (NPA), were both detained in Kasama.

The two have been accused of three charges of corrupt activities, according to Timothy Moono, Head of Corporate Communications for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to allegations, CHIPETA and GOMA requested and actually received the cash as a perk or reward for releasing a suspect who was being held at Kasama Central Police Station.

According to Mr. MOONO, this occurred between January 21 and July 30, 2022.
