A group of rowdy youngsters in Kitwe stoned police officers Friday night after they chose to bring a dead crocodile to the ZNBC Kitwe studios, causing chaos on the street.
Following the recent deaths of a Kitwe woman and a dog by crocodiles, two of the reptiles have been shot dead in the Kafue River by ZAWA personnel.
The shot crocodiles are between 2.5 and 3.5 meters long.
One crocodile was shot dead yesterday around 0:00, according to Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba. It was then pulled from the water and brought to Mufuchani Police Post.
He claimed that shortly, a group of young people planned to bring a crocodile to ZNBC, but the police prevented them from doing so.
Before they were able to bring the crocodile back, according to Mr. Mweemba, the youngsters stoned the police officers who had arrived on the site.
