Five persons detained after grass-thatched kitchen worth K950 set on fire

Five residents of North Western province’s Zambezi district have been detained for setting fires.

On February 7, 2023, at around 01:00 in Mize, Zambezi West Bank, the suspects are accused of setting a grass-thatched kitchen worth K950 on fire in Nyakasumbi hamlet.

Samuel Nyakasumbi, a 36-year-old guy, was the owner of the thatched kitchen.

The five suspects were arrested after officers were informed, according to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale. They were identified as Mwila Chikenge, 36, Kapalu Fulayi, 22, Kahalu Kakoho, 35, Kakoma Kalema, 42, and Ngeleshi Jacob, 48, all of Chingalala village in Zambezi East.

“They were all charged with the offence of Arson Contrary to section 328 Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.They are detained in Police custody awaiting court appearance,” he said.
