IG office attacks must cease, Kambwili urged

Lemmy Kajoba, the inspector general of police, has refuted claims made by PF member Chishimba Kambwili that a top police official at state house had stolen his authority.

Mr. Kambwili recently asserted that the Inspector General of Police serves only as a symbolic leader and that the named senior police officer in charge of the Zambia Police Service is located at State House.

Mr. Kambwili has received a warning from Mr. Kajoba to stop attacking the IG’s office.

Since this is not the first time he has made such derogatory statements about the IG’s office and other senior police officers, we are compelled to respond to them. We don’t want to talk to him in front of others, like on social media. However, Mr. Kajoba stated in a statement, “We are actively monitoring him and scrutinizing every word he makes.

The chief of police of the nation declared that Kambwili’s attempts to sow discord among the police command would fail.

“We wish to remind Mr. Kambwili that the IG is the one charged with the command, superintendence, direction and control of the Zambia Police Service and he is responsible to the Government. Therefore, the rantings by Mr Kambwili are not only misplaced but misleading. We tend to wonder how knowledgeable his advisors are on Police administration,” he said
