Door bouncer arrested On Murder Charges

A 22-year-old door bouncer who worked at a bottle shop near the Lumumba Bus Station on Mumbwa Road was detained by police for the crime of murder.

A 12-year-old Chirundu District girl was killed after being bitten by a crocodile on the Zambezi River, where she had gone with two of her relatives to get water.

Mike Kalume, 21, was killed after a quarrel at the identified Bottle Store, according to David Chishimba, of Garden House compound in Lusaka, deputy police spokesperson Danny Mwale said.

According to him, the incident happened on April 25, 2023, at 22:00.

“It is alleged that the victim who was being prevented from leaving with a bottle of beer, was pushed and he fell hitting the tarmac with his head. He was rushed to Kanyama Level 1 Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 23:30 hours,” he said.

According to Mr. Mwale, the deceased’s remains was placed in the mortuary of the University Teaching Hospitals while the suspect was being held by police for official charges.

A third-grade student at Kayuni Primary School named Diana Siabeba was snared by the reptile as she was walking home after getting water from the River.

“She was together with her siblings when the incident happened on April 26, 2023 around 06:00 hours at Siaulembu area along the Zambezi River. As they were leaving the point where they draw water from, her relatives reported that they heard noise behind them and later realised that the victim was missing,” he said.

Mr Mwale said a search party was launched in the water and 40 minutes later, the victim’s body was retrieved.

“The body was found with cuts on her left arm. It has been deposited in Mtendere Mission Hospital Mortuary waiting for postmortem and burial,” he said.
