Farmer sharing of fertilizer is ineffective

According to the Ministry of Agriculture in the Northern Province’s Mungwi District, those who circulate films showing people distributing modest amounts of fertilizer under the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) are not effective farmers.

Individual farmers on FISP are expected to get one pack comprising six bags of fertilizer, one 10 kilogram bag of maize seed, and an additional bag of legumes, either groundnuts or soy beans, according to Mungwi District Senior Agricultural Officer CORNELIUS ZEMBA.

Mr. ZEMBA points out that One pack is designed to reach one farmer and provide them with an allowance so they may quickly complete the program.

Therefore, he questioned how farmers that gather fertilizer in medas will be able to succeed once they complete the program.
