A pregnant woman who was FIVE months along in her pregnancy miraculously avoided death when her husband allegedly hacked her with an axe on the off chance that she was seeing another guy in Shiwang’andu, Muchinga Province.
Esther Nachalwe, 28, was found alone in the kitchen when her husband Amos Mungalaba, 32, is thought to have returned home intoxicated on Christmas Day. This led him to presume Esther was having an affair.
Police commissioner for Muchinga Province Kaunda Mubanga reported that Mungalaba has now been detained and charged with causing unauthorized wounds.
According to Mr. Mubanga, the victim’s left leg is swollen and bruised, and she also has a serious cut on her back.
“Brief facts are that the suspect left home at around 06:00 hours in the morning to a nearby village to celebrate Christmas and returned home around 17:00 hours in a very drunken state. He found his wife, the now victim at home in the kitchen alone. Having seen that, the suspect thought she was with another man and went straight in the house, got an axe and axed the victim on her back,” he said.
