Govt Saves $150m On The Purchase Of Fertilizers

According to the UPND, the government was able to reduce the cost of fertilizer for the Farmer Input Supply Program-FISP by 150 million dollars.

The money was saved, according to UPND Spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA, through contract renegotiations and cancellations with input suppliers.

He claimed that by purchasing fertilizer for 370 million dollars rather than the initial 523 million dollars, the government was able to save roughly 150 million dollars.

According to Mr. MWEETWA, this procedure is to blame for the delay in getting inputs to farmers.

When discussing the year 2022 on ZNBC’s Sunday Interview show, he made this statement.

Mr. MWEETWA did point out that the majority of the provinces have already gotten the necessary supplies, indicating that the government is on track with the distribution of farming inputs.

And The UPND claims that the party has done well so far in easing the current economic difficulties.

Government has fulfilled some of its political pledges, according to UPND Spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA, including the elimination of tuition fees in the educational sector and increased funding for the social cash transfer.

According to Mr. MWEETWA, the nation has also received over $300 million from the World Bank and an IMF stimulus bailout package that are setting up the economy for success.
