HH: Zambia to tap into Qatar development lessons

Zambia, according to PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema, can learn a lot about leveraging natural resources and diversifying its economy from the State of Qatar.

The Head of State declared that Zambia will keep up its diligent efforts and effectively utilize alliances like the one with the State of Qatar.

During a private meeting with His Excellency Dr. Hamad Bin Abdelaziz Al Kawari, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State, Mr. Hichilema gave a speech on the sidelines of the fifth United Nations conference on least developed countries.

“We hailed the leadership of Qatar on how they have brought development, investments and prosperity to the people of this great country. Zambia has a lot to learn from Qatar on how they have leveraged their natural resources and diversified the economy for the benefit of their people,” he said.

He also noted that his Excellency Dr Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari expressed the importance Qatar attaches to relationships with Africa.

“He recognised the need for Zambia and Qatar to deepen and nurture this friendship for the benefit of our two nations nations and peoples. We will continue working for the good of the nation and leverage on these partnerships,” he said.
