A 33-year-old Chibombo man tragically perished in a dam while trying to catch fish while intoxicated.
Gift Jere had the misfortune to drown himself while attempting to catch some food while intoxicated.
According to David Chileshe, the police commissioner for the Central Province, who verified the tragic news to Mwebantu, the tragedy happened yesterday at about 11:40 a.m.
She claimed that the late Mr. Jere, who was also employed by CCGB farms in Chibombo, drowned in one of the farm’s dams.
“He had gone fishing in a drunken state and so his workmates got concerned. After about two hours of him not getting back, they reported reported to the police. The body was found floating in the dam, was retrieved and upon physical inspection, no physical injuries were noted. The body of the deceased is lying in Liteta Hospital awaiting postmortem.The family and the police do not suspect foul any play however, investigations into the death have been launched,” he said.
