Input Distribution Flags Off In Eastern Province

The Farmer Input Support Program’s provincial input distribution operation has been launched by Eastern Province Minister PETER PHIRI.

The province’s farmers and traditional elders received assurances from Mr. PHIRI that the government will supply inputs to all recipients.

The majority of the 194,545 qualified farmers in the Eastern Province, according to senior agricultural marketing officer DINA PHIRI, have already paid their 400 Kwacha contributions.

Reuben Mtolo, the minister of agriculture, recently declared that 57 percent of input distribution has already been accomplished.

The government has begun distributing the food security pack for 2022–2023 in the Chilanga District.

Additionally, 2,207, viable but vulnerable farmers have been identified to receive the farming inputs.

Furthermore, according to Chilanga District Commissioner DAVID SHELENI, the District aims to rank among the top suppliers to the nation’s food supply.

In order to obtain advice on the best farming techniques and maximize harvests, Mr. SHELENI urged the beneficiaries to make use of the agriculture research center located in the District.

He said that the food security package aims to boost agricultural production and output among low-income people.
