Journalists reporting on human trafficking receive training

Clifford LAMBA, principal planner for the Ministry of Information & Media, asserts that journalists need to be educated on how to properly report human trafficking.

Mr. LAMBA has taken note of the rise in reports of victims of human trafficking with worry.

He was addressing at a four-day capacity-building workshop on protection and human rights for vulnerable migrant groups being hosted by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kabwe, Central Province.

Mr. LAMBA, who is also the focal point for human trafficking, applauded IOM for holding the workshop to highlight the most efficient ways to combat crimes related to human trafficking.

The Zambia Police Service, social welfare officers, and media professionals are among the numerous stakeholders who have attended the program.

IOM is now putting into action the Africa Regional Migration Programme, which aims to improve the ability of African governments to effectively manage migration.
