Mining suppliers applaud the government’s position on Mopani

The announcement by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA that the government has obtained money for the Mopani Copper mine has brought hope, according to the Association of Mine Suppliers and Contractors on the Copperbelt.

According to COSTA MWABA, president of the association, the Copperbelt’s economy is dependent on a thriving mining sector, so news that the government has secured funding cheers up the region.

According to Mr. MWABA, the association is also heartened by signs that the government is bringing up issues pertaining to the Konkola Copper mine.

In an interview with ZNBC News in Kitwe, he stated that mine contractors and suppliers were pleased with the government’s efforts and commitments to revive Mopani and KCM.

Nonetheless, Mr. MWABA has urged the government to implement the local content bill so that it can help local suppliers and contractors.

LUCKY SICHONE, the mayor of Chililabombwe, said the return of VEDANTA Mining Resources and other companies would benefit the Chingola District.

The effort done by Vedanta in Chingola in terms of social corporate responsibility, according to Mr. SICHONE, is visible to everyone.
