Misa CallS For Common Stance On Regulation Among Journalists

AUSTIN KAYANDA, the national director of MISA Zambia, has urged all journalists to band together to develop a self-regulatory system that will benefit everybody.

According to Mr. KAYANDA, it is unhealthy for some people to advocate statutory self-regulation while others prefer pure self-regulatory techniques.

According to Mr. KAYANDA, there is still time for the two groups to come together, resolve their differences, and find a middle ground that will be advantageous to all.

According to him, self-regulation will safeguard journalists from personal criminal liability in addition to ensuring that they work within the bounds of media ethics.

Mr. KAYANDA claims that incidences of harassment of journalists have significantly decreased in the meantime.
