#NationalShutdown: Prince Kaybee joins the protest

The National Shutdown is in full swing, and thousands are taking to the streets to voice their frustration with the South African government and President Cyril Ramaphosa. And joining them is muso Prince Kaybee, who is encouraging others to do the same.

Monday, 20 March, marks the start of nationwide protests facilitated by the EFF and leader Julius Malema. The party is calling for the president to step down and an immediate end to Eskom’s load shedding.  In a series of tweets, Prince Kaybee not only voiced his support for the National Shutdown but revealed that he would be participating as well.

He tweeted: “Getting in my worker’s attire and joining the protest. #NationalShutdown. See yall in the streets.”
Justifying his actions, he continued: “We can’t continue as if all is normal. All South Africans who are pained and annoyed by the state of our country should support the National Shutdown.

“People are dying in hospitals, and small businesses are closing down due to load-shedding. Crime is high; people get slaughtered in the streets with no justice. Inflation is increasing food prices, and people are losing their jobs.

Roads are riddled with potholes, and some are forced to drink dirty water while others don’t even have water to drink”.

It’s not the first time Prince Kaybee has criticised the government’s ruling party. In January, the hitmaker put the ANC on blast over its “empty promises.”

He tweeted: “At this rate, are we even gonna achieve the free education the ANC promised?” He added: “2024 is the year to prove that you want change, not here on Twitter…2024, we need to vote ANC out. Finish and klaar.Meanwhile, more celebs are sharing their support of the National Shutdown.

They include; Pearl Thusi, Ntsiki Mazwai, and Sol Phenduka, who have all been retweeting posts supporting the protests. Pearl added: “Cyril Ramaphosa doesn’t care about the people- more especially the youth of South Africa. He’s literally led this country into the darkness.”
