Not Guilty: Judge Muma Pleads

Judge WILFRED MUMA of the Lusaka High Court has entered a not guilty plea to two counts of intentional disregard for the law and the relevant procedure and abuse of office.

Judge MUMA claimed he understood the charges when he appeared before Magistrate TREVOR KASANDA, but he pleaded not guilty.

The Lands and Deeds Registry Act, Chapter 185 of the Laws of Zambia, section 84 is said to have been wilfully disregarded by Judge MUMA in this case.

In the case at hand, he gave orders to his subordinates to revoke a Certificate of Title pertaining to a public property without abiding by the law or the required protocol.

Additionally, it is claimed that Judge MUMA abused his position by asking the Army Commander to give up the certificate of title to the subject property.

The Patriotic Front Party was subsequently offered the property, which is also alleged to have been arbitrary and harmful to the interests of the government of the Republic of Zambia.

The start of the trial has been scheduled for April 18 by Magistrate KASANDA.
