Police apprehend the most sought suspect in the auto thefts

A 46-year-old Lusaka man who is thought to be responsible for a string of car thefts in different areas of the city has been found.

The police cornered Bernard Mupela, who had been on their most-wanted list.

The suspect was taken into custody on March 15 of this year, according to Godfrey Chilabi, an assistant police public relations officer.

“The suspect is behind a spate of thefts of motor vehicles that have been occurring  in some parts of Lusaka.During the operation, Police have also recovered  a Motor Vehicle Toyota Corolla bearing registration number ACP 8515,  property of Felix Mwanza of Obama Compound which was earlier reported stolen,” he said.

Mr Chilabi added that the suspect remains in custody and further investigations have been instituted.
