The Election Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has stated that it will not hesitate to sanction violent political parties.
Election security is a responsibility of the commission, according to ECZ Director of Electoral Operations ROYD KATONGO.
According to Mr. KATONGO, the commission has hired the Zambia Police to make sure that there is peace prior to, throughout, and after the election.
As he appeared on ZNBC’s Update in Lusaka today, Mr. KATONGO was speaking.
Following political violence in Serenje, when members of the Socialist party and UPND clashed during the campaigning for the Muchinda ward by-election, Mr. KATONGO made his remarks.
He blamed the immigration of cadres from outside the ward for the political violence observed in Serenje.
