Rea Begins Installing Preps

In order to improve the electrification of key projects around the nation, the Rural Electrification Authority (REA) has started implementing Priority Rural Electrification Projects (PREPS).

According to REA Chief Executive Officer LINUS CHANDA, the project was chosen after the Authority recognized that local authorities have priorities within their purview that call for electrification using their resources.

According to Mr. CHANDA, REA plans to sign 40 Memorandums of Understanding with different municipal governments across the nation.

He was speaking as the first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the project was being signed in Lusaka between REA and the Chibombo Town Council.

Chibombo Council Chairperson NEWTON NYELETI thanked REA & collaborating partners for joining together to address the region’s lack of sufficient electricity.

Additionally, MWABASHIKE NKULUKUSA, a member of parliament for the Chibombo region, claimed that having enough energy will increase local residents’ productivity.
