17 suspected cases of cholera have been reported in the VUBWI District of Eastern Province.
However, according to ROMA CHILENGI, director general of the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI), there are still six confirmed cases of cholera, including one fatality, four of which have been released, and one of which is still being treated in a hospital.
Professor CHILENGI stated on ZNBC’s Morning Live that the institute believes the bacteria is spreading through water sources because the majority of the district’s people depend on streams that flow down from Malawi.
