Warning For Manganese Plant Pollution

Manganese Wash Plants have been asked by Green Economy and Environment Minister COLLINS NZOVU to locate their settling ponds away from water courses.

The ponds, according to Mr. NZOVU, have the potential to damage the environment and endanger human health.

When a team of officers from the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA), Forestry, Meteorological Departments, and Ministry of Green Economy and Environment visited Melucky Mining Company Limited, Mr. NZOVU was speaking.

According to him, the government wants investments that are made correctly and safeguard both the environment and people’s health.

Additionally, according to ZEMA Principal Inspector WEBBY SIMWAYI, the plant lacks ZEMA clearance, and all building activities were put on hold in November 2022 while ZEMA decided whether to approve it.
