WP Livestock Farmers To Increase Cbpp Conscience

The government has begun educating livestock owners in 13 areas in Western Province about how to end the spread of Contagious Bovine Pleuro-Pneumonia, or CBPP.

Out of the 16 districts in the province, just three, namely Mwandi, Sesheke, and Mulobezi, have not documented any cases of CBPP, according to Minister of Fisheries and Livestock MAKOZO CHIKOTE.

The sensitization program, according to Mr. CHIKOTE, would highlight protection measures and actions.

The Minister made this statement yesterday in Senanga district at a meeting with abattoir owners and livestock producers from several camps in the district.

The Minister revealed during the meeting that the number of cattle in the Province has decreased from 675,000 to 480,000.
