It’s a done deal! The renowned 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards candidates have been revealed. Zambian film productions are represented in the nominees, which Bisola Aiyeola and Adjetey Anang announced on Sunday, April 15th.
The AMVCAs honor and celebrate exceptional work in African film and television across a range of disciplines.
Ten (10) of the categories are up for public vote; the remaining categories will be selected by the AMVCA panel of judges, which is presided over by veteran filmmaker Femi Odugbemi.
Emmanuel Mwape’s Southern: Silverlining, Njila: Best Original Drama Series, Uncle Limbani: Best Original Comedy, King Bugar: Best Unscripted Original, and Mpali: Best Original Telenovela are some notable Zambian productions that have been nominated and are in the public vote categories.
Two Zambian productions are also included in the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) category, however voting is not permitted for these. Strings and A Quiet Intruder are the productions.
A Multichoice Talent Factory (MTF) alumnus who also worked on Uncle Limbani, Emmanuel Mwape, produced Silverlining, which was nominated in the Best Movie Southern Africa category.

Africa Magic, in collaboration with MultiChoice, is happy to present the ninth annual Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, which is sponsored by Amstel Malta and Zagg energy drink.
The edition is a three-day event, and on May 20th, all Africa Magic Channels on DStv and GOtv will broadcast a live broadcast of the award show. Multichoice annually bestows the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards to honor exceptional accomplishments in television and cinema production around the continent.
