28 year old murders 56 year old mother

Unknown circumstances led a 28-year-old Chongwe man to hack his 56-year-old mother into pieces and burn her, according to the police.

A 28-YEAR-OLD Chongwe man is accused of killing his mother under mysterious circumstances.

Ruth Nyanvula, 56, who died, and Joshua Bwalya, the suspect, are both residents of Chansango Village in the Chongwe District.

The incident happened on November 22, 2022, at around 23:00 hours, at the above address close to Mpango Secondary School in Chongwe, according to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale.

“Police received information from the Head Teacher of the School who earlier received a report from a pupil of the same school. The pupil narrated that on November 22, 2022 around 23:00 hours heard the deceased shouting for help in her house which is located near the boarding houses and that they failed to go to the house as the noise lasted for a short time,” he said.

The deceased was not at home when the head teacher, students, and other community members visited on November 23, 2022 at 8:00 a.m., according to Mr. Mwale. Instead, the group saw the suspect, who had blood stains all over his body, emerge from a nearby bush.

When his mother’s whereabouts were inquired about, according to Mr. Mwale, he made up the story that she was running errands for work. However, when they opened the door and saw a pool of blood on the floor, the Head Teacher dialed the police.

“Police officers rushed to the scene and apprehended the suspect who later led them to the nearby bush about 900 meters away from the deceased’s house where he demonstrated how he dragged the deceased after killing her in her house,” Mr Mwale said.

He claimed that before it was interred, the deceased’s burned and dismembered body was discovered in the mortuary of the Chongwe District Hospital.

Mr. Mwale stated that while an investigation is underway, the suspect is being held in police custody.
