In the Kabushi neighborhood of Ndola, THREE men, ages 21 to 23, have been detained for alternately Violating minor.
Together with the 15-year-old girl who tricked the victim into the trap, the trio—who alternated between Violating the victim for roughly six hours—has been taken into custody.
One of the suspects’ phones is said to have been used to record the incident.
The victim, a grade 10 student at an unnamed school in Ndola, is said to have been Violated by Lenton Kambalakata, 23, of Mushili Township, Mukuka Mwaba, 21, of Kabushi Township, and Joseph Mwambwa, also of Kabushi Township.
When the 15-year-old juvenile girl accomplice met the victim and then brought her to a house where the three male suspects were, the victim, who was on her way home after escorting a relative, was cornered.
According to Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba, the incident took place on Thursday in Kabushi Township between 13:00 and 19:00.
According to Mr. Mweemba, the victim’s younger, older sister reported the event.
“Brief facts of the matter are that Thursday, April 20th, this year around 0900 hours, the victim and her sister were visited by a relative who stayed at home up to about 13:00 hours and later left. The reporter (sister) then instructed the victim to escort the visitor, which was done accordingly, and the visitor was escorted up to the bus station,” he said.
He claimed that the victim began walking home after escorting her relative.
According to Mr. Mweemba, it just so happened that the victim encountered a girl on the way home who she had never met before, befriended her, and asked her to her home so that she could get to know it before escorting the victim there.
“The juvenile suspect then entered a certain house and invited the victim to enter the house. It was after entering the said house that three men appeared in the house and grabbed the victim whom they forcefully undressed and gang raped, one after the other from 1300 hours to 19:30 hours. It is believed that the three men used the girl who befriended the victim to entice her to enter the house and later the same girl ran away using the back door,” he said.
He said the victim was only released after being repeatedly raped until 19:30 hours.
“Upon reaching home, she immediately informed the sister who reported to the police. Preliminary interview conducted on the suspects revealed that the suspects made a video whilst taking turns in raping the victim. The videos are on one of the suspect’s phone. The three boys and the girl who took the victim to the house are all currently detained in police custody. An additional charge of production of obscene materials/videos will be added to the charge,” he said.
