Seven people have now been detained in relation to recent reports of thefts from motor vehicles, including THREE additional suspects.
Three other individuals, picked up from Matero Township in Lusaka and aged between 29 and 34, were arrested as a result of the investigations.
According to police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale, the suspects were discovered in possession of several tools for car-breaking.
He added that police also seized two cars driven by the suspects, a Toyota Allex with the license plates BLB 2783 and BAL 5634 and a Toyota Camry with the license plate BAV 913.
“Suspects were apprehended on February 7, 2023 around 20:00 hours.Total number of impounded motor vehicles suspected to be used in criminal activities is three and number of suspects in Police custody is seven,” he said.
Investigations into the incident, according to Mr. Mwale, are still ongoing.
Four suspects, including a woman, were recently detained in Chelston in connection with auto theft.
