4 illegal immigrants detained by Group of officers in Mpika

When traveling from Mbala to Lusaka for presidential responsibilities, cops stopped four suspected illegal immigrants at Mpika.

According to Kaunda Mubanga, commanding officer of Muchinga Province, the immigrants were detained yesterday around 17:00 at the Nabwalya turnoff in the Mpika district.

“Brief facts are that a team of officers were on their way to Lusaka from Mbala District where they had gone for presidential duties and upon reaching Mpika’s Nabwalya turn off, they found villagers had apprehended four suspected Prohibited Immigrants of Kenyan origin and one Zambian suspected to have been one facilitating for their safe passage.

The details of the same suspects are, Mohammed Ibrahim aged 26, Ali Salan aged 24, Abdullah Farah aged 28 and Yusuf Ashad aged 26. The Zambia. Suspect is Masiye Mabvuto ages 28yrs of Libala South Lusaka,” he said.

Mr Mubanga said the suspects have since been handed over to immigration officers for further dealings.

“This office has observed a slight shift in the traffickers modus operadi  and have now resorted to using Kasama route and elude security check points through bush paths . We shall try to elicit more information from the Zambian suspects,” he said.
