All of the farming inputs provided by the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) have been distributed to the Petauke District in Eastern Province, with 5, 938 farmers having so far claimed their share.
MARTHA MULENGA, the Petauke District Commissioner, verified the development to ZNBC News.
According to Ms. MULEGA, the district includes 21,374 farmers who are FISP beneficiaries.
According to her, the area has received 64,119 bags of urea and D-compound fertilizer.
Farmers have continuing to gather the inputs in the district, Ms. MULEGA adds.
The Petauke DC adds that the need for the farmer verification process, which was required to weed out phantom beneficiaries from the scheme, contributed to the delays in farmers obtaining the supplies.
