Age requirements for taxi drivers lowered by RTSA

The government has lowered the age threshold from 25 to 20 years so that a taxi driver can receive a license for a public service vehicle.

This follows the modification to the Road Traffic Act, according to ALINANI MSISYA, Chief Executive Officer and Acting Director of the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA).

According to Mr. MSISYA, the decision was made following extensive consultation over the previous years.

He revealed this yesterday night in Lusaka at a meeting with stakeholders.

The acting director stated that a probationary driving license, which is valid for a year before a normal license is awarded, is also a part of the new law.
