AKA Assassination: All information You Should Know

On Friday night, late, the nation lost one of its most popular entertainers.

On one of Durban’s nightlife hotspots, Florida Road, the hitmaker Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his close buddy Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot and killed outside Wish Restaurant.

AKA had spent the evening with pals, including Tibz, his former manager and a well-known businessman and chef who may have been hit by a bullet that was not intended for AKA.

The men can be seen leaving the restaurant in CCTV footage that has since surfaced and gone viral. Seconds later, two shooters approach them from different angles.

While the other men in the film duck for shelter, AKA drops on the ground.

Later that evening, AKA was scheduled to perform at YG Durban in honor of his birthday. When the nightclub learned of AKA’s passing, they decided to cancel the event.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a spokesman for the KwaZulu-Natal SAPS, said that authorities were looking into two murder cases.

“We don’t want to speculate on the reason for the shooting. Our investigations will hopefully reveal the cause of the shooting,” Netshiunda said.

The case has been taken up by skilled teams of detectives from the KZN Organized Crime Unit, according to police information released over the weekend.

On Sunday, there was also a prayer at the location.

In the meantime, social media super sleuths have offered numerous (conspiracy) hypotheses about who they think might have been responsible for the crime.

Don Design, a friend of AKA’s, has been named as a suspect by social media “detectives,” but critically and formally.

They assert that his actions, as captured on the CCTV, particularly his hand motions, were inappropriate.

Tony Forbes, AKA’s father, has urged people to hold off on making such claims. Tony Forbes made his request during a brief press conference on Tuesday.

“We do not condone what is being said about his friends and those making dangerous statements. We appeal to them to cease doing so,” Forbes said.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Sandton Convention Center on Friday, February 17, at 3 p.m., according to Forbes’ announcement. The funeral for AKA will be held on February 18 on Saturday.

The funeral will be held in privacy.

On Thursday at Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg, there will be a memorial service for Tibz.

There have been no arrests made. investigations are ongoing
